White Castle Style Chicken Burgers & BBQ Chicken Burgers

Recipe #1:  The inspiration for todays recipe came not just from White Castle but the Big Red Kitchen Blog which ran an easy to do recipe on faux White Castle style bugers.  We made the recipe on the blog and it was really good.

We’ve been making Chicken burgers lately that have evolved into a pretty decent burger on the grill.  Tonight we take them the oven and try to make them White Castle style.

Recipe #2:  This is really two recipes so if you want to make a great Chicken Burger that the kids will love, stop once everything is mixed and move out to the grill.  Don’t forget to throw an Onion on the grill (OK, 3 recipes) when you start it up. Lop off the non-root , cut it x4 down but not through the root and open it up, pour Olive Oil in and toss on the grill.  Goes great on the burgers later.  Don’t overcook the chicken or you’re screwed.

Here’s the original Chicken Burger recipe

BBQ Chicken Burgers – Troy’s

Amount  Measure       Ingredient — Preparation Method

1              pound  ground chicken
1         tablespoon  oil
1               each  egg
1         tablespoon  soy sauce
1         tablespoon  Durkee’s Chicken and Rib Rub
1           teaspoon  salt
1/2      teaspoon  black pepper
4             dashes  hot pepper sauce
3          teaspoons  worcestershire sauce
2              drops  Liquid Mesquite smoke flavor
1/2      teaspoon  cumin
3        tablespoons  Italian bread crumbs

Mix together everything but the chicken.  Then mix it into the ground chicken and make patties.  1# makes 3 nice patties.

To make it White Castle style, here’s that recipe

White Castle style Chicken Burgers – Troy’s

1              pound  ground chicken
1         tablespoon  oil
1               each  egg
1         tablespoon  soy sauce
1         tablespoon  Durkee’s Chicken and Rib Rub
1           teaspoon  salt
1/2      teaspoon  black pepper
4             dashes  hot pepper sauce
3          teaspoons  worcestershire sauce
2              drops  Liquid Mesquite smoke flavor
1/2      teaspoon  cumin
3        tablespoons  Italian bread crumbs
2        tablespoons  oil — due to low fat in chicken
1/4           cup  dried onion flakes
1/2      teaspoon  garlic powder
1                cup  cheddar cheese

Mix together everything but the chicken.  Then mix it into the ground chicken.
Now put the dried onion flakes at the base of the 9×13 cooking dish.  Put the ground chicken mixture on top and roll it out with a glass.
Bake at 400F for 20 minutes. Pull and put the cheese on. Back in the oven for 2 minutes.
Serve by themselves or on dinner rolls.  Works well with Turkey as well.
